the brunch ninja
:: Miller

A designer by trade (web, mostly), Miller lives in Arlington, Massachusetts (after having grown up in Southern California), enjoys various creative pursuits, learning photography and running puzzle hunt events. It’s been decided that he goes out to eat way too much but at least makes up for it in the sheer volume of food he prepares for other people. A somewhat serious foodie since college, he’s mostly self-taught through trial and (sometimes tasty) error and makes no claim to having had any culinary study or tradition in his life. If it weren’t for his collection of bound annuals of Cooks Illustrated, fellow foodie friends, the Internet and his mom, he’d have nothing to cook. Seriously.

I’m no chef. Sort of a cook. But I do have an appetite and I know what I like to eat – and I’m here to make you hungry. It all started when I moved out of my Sicilian’s parents house when I was 21 (something that typically just isn’t done until one is married). One day, I got “hungry” and decided to cook something for myself – I couldn’t decide if I wanted a burger or a dog, so, I combined the two into what is known (around my circle of eaters) as the Pipe-Steak™. Now, this is my philosophy on cooking – take this and that, make sense out of it, and eat it. Come to think of it, even if it doesn’t make sense… let’s eat!

the grambler
:: Anthony

Software engineer, raconteur, bon vivant, connoisseur et gastronome, Anthony is all of these things and more. Currently living in New York City, Anthony can often be found eating, thinking about eating, and talking about what he ate. When not occupied with eating, he spends his time with puzzles and games, travelling, caring for his turtles, and martial arts. If there’s any time left over, he can be found working for Google. An occasional cook, unfortunately he’s agonizingly slow in the kitchen. His favorite food is pork.

Captain of the Grill
:: Matt

The Captain of the Grill was suddenly and forcefully thrust into the world of improvisational cuisine when his college housing fell through and he ended up living alone in a beach house off season. After a stint in Boy Scouts cooking hamburgers on rocks in campfires, he found that his skills did not quite apply, and he had to, as they say, wing it. Currently, the Captain most enjoys cooking stuff with fire in the backyard.

Mr. and Mrs. Disco-Salsicce
:: Chris & Jenny

He’s a librarian, she’s a scientist. Where do they meet? In the kitchen, of course! The kitchen is a source of partnership and good-natured rivalry, but most importantly a source of love. Food as a symbol of love is well-founded in both of our family histories, so we both grew up cooking and eating and sharing food. As our relationship developed, “food is love” has become a vehicle for our expressions of love for each other and for our friends and family as well. And in the meantime, food as science, food as art, food as history, food as politics… it’s all fair game.
